All About Dogs - Brentwood 2011

Our first agenda was to get the stand up and looking top notch. After lots of hard work, the stand looked so professional, the banners and signs that Jerome made meant we could be seen from afar……

The show was a country affair, from dock dogs to jousting in the arena, fly ball, laser clay and the thunder of paws from the lure…..

The jousting went down a treat – I truly don’t think I’ve seen so many people flock around the main arena to have a glimpse. Truly spectacular!

The Mayor opened our stand and fell in love with one of the dogs…

Once the gates opened the flow of people was immense. It was a sea of dogs and owners!

We sold many items off our merchandise table, from BCCS clothing to candles of Corsos, calendars, stickers etc. All the money we raise goes towards helping our rescue teams. We had a dedicated area on the stand with pictures and write-ups about the dogs in need at that time, we are always in hope we can find their forever home. The arena shows ranged from agility demos to security dogs working with fire dumbbells.

The Corsos turned heads & Baila was amazing when Amalie a 4 year old stole her and took over her controls in the Corso walking parade.

Our Meet the Breeder area got lots of action. We covered all aspect of the dogs from health to size and temperament, helping people to understand the breed, explaining how recovery program started and the things the FOCC / BCCS do to help make the health of the dogs a primary thing due to such a small gene pool. People walked away more aware of the dogs and the amazing lines we now have in this country. We advertise the FOCC as a place they can come say hi and do more research for themselves.

Mr. Viggo got involved with the lure and was the fasted of ALL breeds of the day on the beater stand.  They where so impressed with his drive and speed, he made headlines in their very own in-house magazine, what a great achievement……!

The stand had a petting area where many people came and could meet, touch and even have a cuddle with the Cane Corso. It was great socialising for our show stand dogs they met babies, toddlers, men and women of all ages and showed everyone how amazing they could be.

The end result was a success in the eyes of the FOCC. We help educate people on the breed and even had help from Natalie who doesn’t even own a Corso but was so kind to come to the whole weekend - slept in a tent went home very tired, but had so much fun, and really did help with the dogs and the show stand construction.

The STARS of the show were the Corsos…. they showed people their obedience, protectiveness, but also their soft sleepy side …

Think Baila won the award for this…….

A few Corsos came to see us on the stand for information, help and advice. We have loads of literature for people to read on our boards covering colour to size. We found at this show people were really interested in the BARF diet; we had great hand-outs so people could take them away to read and gain a better insight.

Many people were really interested in the dogs as most had never met a Corso or even heard of one. The reactions we received were really something to be proud of….

There was every breed of dog either walking around, in petting pens or in the main arena. The Newfoundlands were pulling their carts and showing their stuff. We made sure we had a huge water bowl just outside our stand so we’d attract & entice all dog to the stand so we got to meet loads - from tea cup to tiny car size……..

We might have all gone home tired, dirty, with broken backs from the tents and with very sleepy dogs but we went home with a smile. Not only did the dogs show they are true ambassadors for the breed; we sit back and reflect on the show with pride. Not only did it look utterly professional but without help from the members of the BCCS, FOCC and organisers who give up their time and devote their energy into making the road trips to make these show. So, thank you all for the hard work and for giving others the chance to meet the magnificent…..CANE CORSO!
