BCCS Objectives

The BCCS was founded in response to a need for representation and some measure of protection for the Cane Corso in the United Kingdom.  The Constitution states the following high-level objectives:

OBJECTIVES

  • Protect, promote and encourage the best interests of Cane Corso in the UK

The BCCS has formed as a group of enthusiasts and breeders of the Cane Corso in response to the unregulated, unrepresented and overall poor state of the breed in the UK.  By educating prospective Corso owners as the both the benefits and drawbacks of this breed, the BCCS serves the Corso in the UK. Actively promoting the Corso at existing, multi-breed events, or running events through the year in the UK to raise awareness of the breed is another responsibility.  Ensuring that the breed is welll cared for, and providing owners and breeders a means of support underlines the most important aspect of the BCCS.

Communicate with foreign clubs and registries.

The BCCS already has, through its founders and senior members, good relationships with important individuals throughout the Corso world - globally.  It is an aim of the BCCS to create lasting, firm and meaningful relationships with the formal breed clubs in other countries.  Already relationships are forming with SACC (Italy), the Dutch Cane Corso Club and the CCAA (USA).

  • Issue pedigrees and track Corso ownership and imports across UK

The state of the UK Corso is at best, unknown.  With critical new blood entering the UK in the form of new imports and International mating trips, and new litters showing up all the time, people wanting a Corso need someone to trust.  A register of all Corsos in the UK, and a centralised pedigree database with stringent rules for submission will give the UK that level of trust.  This will also help identify health problems, and assist breeders in making informed, healthy decisions for their matings.
