2009 Re-Home Report

2009 was a busy old year for the BCCS Rehome team, with the Corso becoming more and more popular in the UK the numbers turning up in shelters across the country are increasing at an astonishing rate.
As a society, we don’t just want to pick up the pieces when things go wrong, so the BCCS has developed an affirmative action plan, including new breeder packs sent out with advice and information to small UK breeders, a rescue pack sent out to shelters all over the UK to help and assist with identifying and placing Corsos in Forever homes and a volunteer behavioral team to try and help owners before rehoming has to become an option. The amount of time and dedication given by members of the Friends of Cane Corso has been phenomenal and we’d like to thank you all on behalf of those without a voice.
Now, onto the dogs of 2009…
Troy
Troy came to our attention through our ongoing relationship with Battersea Dogs home, a lovely fella, he was in kennels for some months before being fostered by Anna the BCCS Rehome co-ordinator. Troy has now gone on to a fantastic Forever home where he is thriving – his new owner says she feels he’s been there all his life!
Kenny
Kenny also came to us through Battersea, and was fostered by Jo at Boleyn Cane Corso whilst he worked through some minor issues that needed fixing before he went to a Forever home. Kenny turned out to be one of the most patient dogs the BCCS has worked with – being bounced on by puppies was his forte! Huge thanks also go to Zack for being such a fantastic handler with him. Kenny is now in a great Forever home with Ricci and Charlie, who opened their hearts and home for us again after loving their beloved family member Kenzo.
Little Mo
Little Mo was found wandering and severely underweight. He was fostered by Ali of Telesto Cane Corso who fed, loved him and worked with him until his confidence returned and he was spotted by FOCC members Donna and Ian. Little Mo (now not so little!) is doing brilliantly and his new owners keep us updated on all his antics and share their training experiences which is fantastic.
Keeva
Keeva was due to be put to sleep when her owner moved house! Luckily she was spotted by Ali of Telesto and moved to a foster home with FOCC members John and Lou who cared for her until her forever home was found. Keeva (now Bella) lives happily with FOCC members Darren and Charmaine and their army of shrimp! Darren and Charmaine have been very committed members of the FOCC since joining, and we’re looking forward to Bella’s next update.
Red
Red was given to the BCCS Rehome team when his owners circumstances changed to the point where they felt he would be happier in a new home. His owners were amazingly supportive, and paid for his neutering before he was rehomed which made a huge difference to the BCCS funds. Red is a comical character who spent some time with Anna before being moved into foster care with FOCC member Catherine and her family where he remains (!), he seems to have decided recently that he is, in fact, a Chinese Crested…
